I’m Really Disappointed About K-12

 

I've done a lot of research and writing about K-12 during the last 30+ years. Here are the things that became more and more obvious throughout that period. 

 

First, the schools were full of bogus theories and methods. But the entire Education Establishment supported these fake methods, resulting in a steady decline of our school system. That is a major disappointment.

 

Furthermore, the national media, the official pundits, and most of the so-called experts stood silently by or they quietly validated views they had to know were deeply flawed. Everyone should feel disappointed about this.

 

Another shocking aspect of our situation is that the upscale people, the movers and shakers, the greatly successful people didn't help much at all. I'm thinking of the CEOs, the millionaires, the billionaires, all the people and organizations who could really make a difference if they bothered to do so. I wrote a letter to the Heritage Foundation saying that the biggest problem we have is dysfunctional public schools, but they are not helping the public to understand how destructive this is. I graduated from Princeton years ago and have submitted many well-received articles to the alumni magazine but I never heard of another alumnus or anyone among the professors who was actively engaged in fixing the situation. Believe me, I am so disappointed.

 

What to do? The one thing that every American can do is read a little more about the plight of our schools. If you search my name and any education subject, you'll find many articles explaining all aspects of the wide-spread dumbing down. Just look at the record and you'll see that Communism has been a grand killing machine. Why would anybody support this thing?

 

Truth used to be the big concern of all schools at all levels. Now the schools don't know anything. The kids don't learn anything. And the notion of Truth must seem very remote to everyone. You know I'm disappointed.

 

An excellent example of screwy nonsense is the 3-cueing. system invented by Professor Ken Goodman. Millions of children were taught to read with a method that does not work. I'll explain why. You won't be disappointed.
